Empowering Wellness Through Harp Music and BIPOC Artistry: African American Harpist Angelica Hairston Joining the SFI Partner Program in Creating Black-Led Spaces for Healing
I am thrilled to share my excitement about joining the SFI Partner Program, a remarkable initiative by the South Fulton Arts (formerly South Fulton Institute). My partnership with SFI allows programing that provides equitable access to healing through through harp music, a focusing on wellness, yoga and mindfulness, and nurturing Black-led spaces. As someone passionate about holistic well-being, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a community-driven initiative that aligns with my values.
From my work with leaders such as Tricia Hersey of the Nap Ministry and Octavia Raheem of Devoted to Rest Retreat for Women of Color, I’ve expanded my own practice of using music as a tool for reparations, healing, and holistic restorations. I received Certification in Sound Healing and Music Therapy with the intention of music the harp as a tool to provide spaces of wellness justice.
Looking ahead to the 2024 SFA CREATE Partner Program, I am excited about the opportunity to immerse myself in the local community with an eye toward inclusivity, creativity, and well-being. Join me on this exciting adventure as we collectively embrace the transformative power of the arts for a more just and healed world.
